the wt would always say things like "satan knows our weaknesses and how to exploit them".. so if he knew i wouldn't be able to resist a hot chick as a teenager, why wasn't that wily serpent sending them my way by the bucketfuls?.

if he knew i wouldn't be able to resist a job offering me six figures a year, why wasn't that angry lion trying to devour my spirituality with it?.

it was damn disappointing!

Not only did the Watchtower let you down but satan didn't fulfill his end of the bargan either. It's all one big rip off.

Going to Las Vegas in 3 weeks!!!!!

i am so excited i can hardly stand it!!

i love going to vegas and try to go about every 3-4 years.

the last time we went was 3 years ago and we did not gamble as we were trying to do "what is right".

Good for you. I was just there a few weeks ago. I hadn't been there in a about three years and couldn't believe how much the strip has changed since the last time I was there. They just keep adding more casinos.

You said that there was no way in hell that you would let your child grow up in a cult. I'm glad to hear that. One of the problems I see for those who try to play the game of going to the KH with their children pretending that all is well is that they are probably creating a monster that will evenually turn on them viewing them as a opposer to the truth.

I'm sorry that things are going the way they are for you but sometimes we have to make very tough decissions if things are going to work out right for us in the long run. All of us that have left the Watchtower have come to that crossroads. Good luck and keep us informed how things are going.

Do You Folks Wanna Hear My Story?

i've already written "my story".

i've been "out" for 35 years.

but that is not a story that contains the little stuff.

I would have been among the first to say yes post it but I am unable to post from my cell phone for some reason so I just lurk when I don't have a access to a computer.

So when can we expect the story to post? Will it be posted all at once or in increments? You have a lot of fans here who are waiting.

hypothetical scenario.

you are a city manager in a major metropolitan city with a population of 3,000,000.. .

if the governing body was truly convinced themselves of the impending disaster and the fact that the end is imminent would they not focus their efforts in spreading the message through effective means such as telephone, television, internet, social networks etc?

A good illustration. I hope I'll have a chance to use it.

It is fairly obvious that the Watchtower doesn't believe their message or they would choose a more effective way of presenting it to the public. And if you observe how slowly dubs go about presenting the message when they are out in service it make you wonder if they even believe it.

Ton Ten REASONS why Jehovah's Witnesses simply can't abide reality

1.the organization itself denies access to reality and substitutes its own version, interpretations and meanings.. a.only watchtower approved publications are allowed.. b.no higher education is to be pursued.. c.no non-jw friends or associations are encouraged with their "outside" points of view.. d.no free-style questioning of doctrine or criticism permitted.

curiousity is verboten.. e.threat of being "marked" or disassociated looms over them.

2.between every real-world event and the rank and file jw's mind is a roadblock.. a.the moment of identifying is short-circuited by an interpretive moment of re-labeling in watchtower-speak.. b.all things happening are forced into a narrow storyline and propagandized as end times happenings leading to armageddon.. 3.social and personal identity is expunged and replaced by a collective persona: "jehovah's witness".. a.private thinking is red-flagged as selfish and sinful.. b.personal improvement, welfare and ambition is crushed and door-to-door ministry substituted as "worthy" endeavors.. c.self-conscious obsession permeates witness awareness as each person is transformed into a public spectacle of performance for judgement.. d.since you aren't an individual you don't really have a right to fall in love and marry or educate or earn.

That is very telling. During that same period my future brother-in-law was in Viet Nam. Were were always sending things to him as did others. I didn't get involve with the Jdubs till the early 70s but there were witnesses in jail at that time and not once did ever hear about anything ever being done for them. To my knowledge they didn't even provide draft counseling or legal counseling for those facing jail time. I'm sure the Watchtower would claim it would be wrong to do something that would draw attention to them because it would glorify the individual or some nonsense like that.

Many of the things you mention that JWs aren't allow to get involved in are things they have no problem taking advantage of when they need them. This is why I consider the Watchtower to be a parasitical organization. They contribute very little to the community they depend on.

By the way I enjoyed your music. I listened to it several times before I left the house this morning. You talented people really irritate me.

A Big Thanks to John Williams at Bethel

about five years ago, john williams came to philadelphia, ms as a visiting bethel speaker for our special assembly day.

i was well acquainted with him, as he had been to my kh before as a special weekend speaker, and also to a neighboring congregation.

in his afernoon talk, he goes off about social network websites and he made this statement: "brothers, make no mistake about it, myspace is no place for christians".

Johnny Boy Williams was just expressing the fear the Watchtower feels over not being able control the information JWs get like they could in the past. But they are fighting a loosing battle. Some dubs may delete their accounts when they hear fear mongering like Johnny's but it is becoming more impractical to avoid contact with the internet and many of them will find their way back and then it is only a matter of time before they come across information like the information posted here.
